Patient Relationship Coordinator

EnteroMedics is looking for a temp (possible temp to hire) Patient Relationship Coordinator to cover the 12:00pm – 8:30pm shift. The PRC qualifies, educates and supports a patient from interest in the technology to implant. The PRC is dedicated to vBloc® therapy, performing tasks that are tailored to meet the patient’s individual engagement needs in order to deliver a clinically qualified and committed patient to vBloc implanting centers. In this position, you will be the liaison/facilitator between the patient and the healthcare facility throughout the patient’s journey.

Essential Functions

Patient Centric

  • Interact with patients using a warm, empathetic, non-judgmental and encouraging tone

  • Be subject matter experts on vBloc Therapy and general bariatric surgery options, in order to educate patients about vBloc Therapy and provide emotional support to the patient throughout their journey.

  • Prequalify patients based on indication for the therapy and characteristics of an ideal vBloc patient

  • Document patient interactions in database software.

  • Set/manage expectations of the patients throughout their journey by answering any questions that patients may have, ensuring that the patient feels supported and informed.

  • Ensure efficient workflow and throughput of processes keeping the patient informed and educated throughout the process. Address gaps when needed.

  • Establish relationships with the surgical centers in order to deliver the “red carpet” experience to every patient.

  • Continually look for opportunities for improvement, in an effort to increase productivity and efficiency.

  • Obtains insurance info and coordinates handoff to insurance team for patients wishing to explore the insurance path.

Physician Office Centric

  • Deliver qualified and committed patients to EnteroMedics vBloc Institutes

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and office staff to ensure effective and efficient processing of patients.

  • Act as a liaison with sales team, customers and reimbursement support program to ensure a productive and quality experience

  • Coordinate the accurate and timely completion of required forms and documents (e.g. HIPAA Release form)

  • Continually look for opportunities for improvement, in an effort to increase productivity and efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or equivalent preferred

  • 3+ years of call center/sales experience required, medical device experience preferred

  • 3+ years of customer service experience required, medical device experience preferred

  • Experience informing customers of product capabilities and works to determine if there is a potential fit. Enthusiastically shares information in a, professional, accurate and concise manner, empathetic in approach understands that “no” is an acceptable answer.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required

  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to exercise initiative, together with ability to work as a team player as well as work independently.

  • Strong knowledge of computer operations and demonstrated computer skills.

  • Experience working with commercialization of new and emerging technologies a plus

  • Manages time effectively working leads in a timely fashion, understanding company sales goals while balancing and moving eligible and potential candidates to next steps.

  • Remains positive in prospecting even if leads do not result in a high level of qualified candidates.
